Q4 2024 Volunteer of the Quarter - April Brown

We are thrilled to announce USO Incirlik’s Volunteer of the Quarter for Q4: April Brown! April has consistently demonstrated her commitment to the USO mission by taking initiative, supporting programming, and fostering collaboration. Whether organizing storage areas, addressing critical maintenance issues, or offering creative solutions like ensuring printed materials were available even when equipment failed, April’s attention to detail and proactive problem-solving have been key to keeping the center running smoothly. Her ability to see what needs to be done and immediately jump in to help has made her a pivotal member of our team.

“She doesn’t see a box – she thinks outside the box,” exclaims Center Operations Specialist Robin Hamilton. “She pushes us to be creative and is very intentional about expanding the resources that we do have.” April not only comes up with creative solutions to reduce waste and our environmental impact when it comes to leftover and near-expiring food, but she is incredibly resourceful in helping to ensure our dollar goes a long way.

April’s impact extends far beyond the center walls. She has played an active role in leading community engagement efforts such as the Spanish-English Language Exchange and supporting numerous 5K runs. Her outreach within the Incirlik Medical Group has recruited more volunteers, expanding our USO community and ensuring our programming reaches as many service members as possible. She is also a strong advocate for our NATO partners, always thinking inclusively and ensuring everyone’s needs are met—from labeling food for multi-national events to mentoring new volunteers with grace and empathy.

“April is a true servant leader. She is always ready to lend a hand, and wants to help others succeed,” shared fellow Lead Volunteer Rich Hutson. Her constant positivity, willingness to help, and drive to give back inspire everyone around her. Whether she’s assisting with Taste of Home events, tackling special projects, or offering a friendly smile, April has proven to be reliable, creative, and compassionate. Her dedication to both the USO mission and the Incirlik community makes her a well-deserved recipient of this award. Thank you, April, for your continued excellence and service!
