Please join us in congratulating our Q3 VOQ, Jordan Johnson!

Throughout his time as a volunteer, Jordan has exemplified what it truly means to be a USO volunteer. He has embraced our mission and core values to the tee by assisting and taking lead on almost every one of our programs and leading shifts during center operations. His helping hand is essential, especially during our current staff turnover, leave and transition. He has his own “9-5” job, and to see him come to the USO to give back to his fellow community, after he’s worked all day is amazing to see and experience. Our first introduction to Jordan was when he entered the USO on a day we were making a home cooked meal for a program. Without even asking, he jumped right in, fit in where he was able and joined the cooking crew. Fast forward to today, we are constantly brainstorming on new program ideas, center operational improvements and how to craft an immersive volunteer experience; Jordan always has valuable input. Whether adding a clever spin on an old program or trying to develop a new one, he is always willing to think outside of the box to support his fellow IAB community. Jordan has been a key player in the majority of our special programs including the Murder Mystery Party, Taste of Home, Diversity and Inclusion while also being a staple at our reoccurring programs. We don’t know how Jordan finds the time outside of his duties in COMM but he also manages to open and close the center regularly to support others.
Since the day Jordan walked in our center to become a volunteer he has earned over 650 volunteer hours. Throughout this quarter he contributed 250 hours to operational improvements for the center; this is where he absolutely shines.

Jordan bakes most weekends and sometimes for up to 8 hours per day. He has also taken two other volunteers under his wing who had no experience in the kitchen. Under his guidance, they are learning basic baking skills and really enjoying themselves. Jordan leads our outreach events at arkadas park and continues to spread his cheer to over 200 service members a week at Incirlik. He has also on a few occasions assisted us in packing tuft boxes to be sent up to our expeditionary site supporting an additional 200 service members. He always provides valuable input and always anticipates the needs of his fellow service members here on base and at our expeditionary sites. This “sixth” sense of his is what makes Jordan shine and deserving of our Q3 VOQ. #BeTheForce
