October 2022 Volunteer of the Month

The USO’s mission of connecting service members to family, country and home is exactly what Gustavo and Chris do. Known fondly as the “Night Crew”, Gustavo and Chris reached out to the USO to volunteer and quickly became leaders. They saw a gap within the Incirlik community, specifically services for those with unconventional schedules who have nowhere to go on base between the hours of midnight and 8 am. Gustavo and Chris took initiative and created “NFL Nights” where they open and close the USO center every Sunday and Monday overnight. Not only that, but they keep the center spotless and organized. They have shown their commitment to the USO’s mission in making sure service members are being taken care of and have support at all hours of the night. Gustavo and Chris have embodied the USO’s core values through their accountability and passion. They are constantly going above and beyond as volunteers, while also sharing their innovative ideas to make sure the center is as inclusive as possible. They advertise, network, and connect with their peers daily to provide an excellent experience at the USO and on Incirlik. In less than a month they have served over 50 hours. But even more significantly, they have become leaders and have truly impacted the Incirlik community. Staff at the USO have heard from leadership around the base of how impressed and grateful they are to Chris and Gustavo for filling a need for the airmen. USO Incirlik is proud to have them as part of our volunteer team! Come out to the USO one night and meet them!
